Testing, Verification & Certification

Compliance done properly. Testing, verification, and certification on new installs, alterations, and existing systems to New Zealand standards.

Electrical compliance isn’t paperwork for its own sake. It’s the proof that an installation is safe, that your insurance will stand behind you, and that the work was done by someone accountable. Best Forsyth Electrical provides testing, verification, and certification across Hawke’s Bay, on our own work and on installations done by others.

Certification on new work and alterations

Every job we complete is tested and certified to New Zealand standards as a matter of course, with a Certificate of Compliance or Electrical Safety Certificate issued on completion. We also carry out independent verification of high-risk work (mains work, switchboards, and installations in demanding environments) where an additional layer of inspection is required.

Checking existing installations

Older buildings, recently purchased properties, and busy workplaces all benefit from a periodic inspection. We test and inspect existing systems, identify anything unsafe or non-compliant, and give you a clear written report with priorities: what’s dangerous, what’s marginal, and what’s fine. No scaremongering, just an honest assessment from a Master Electrician.

For workplaces we provide test and tag programmes, emergency lighting testing, and thermal imaging of switchboards, the fastest way to catch a failing connection before it becomes a fire or an outage.

Records you can actually find later

Every certificate and test result we issue is documented and kept on file. Years down the track, when an insurer, buyer, or auditor asks for evidence, one phone call to us gets you the paperwork.

FAQs

Testing, Verification & Certification FAQs

When do I legally need certification?

All prescribed electrical work in New Zealand must be certified. If wiring has been added or altered, in a home or a business, there should be a Certificate of Compliance or Electrical Safety Certificate to match.

Can you inspect a property before I buy it?

Yes. A pre-purchase electrical inspection checks the switchboard, wiring condition, and any obvious DIY work, and gives you a written report before you commit.
